Resume Builder ("we", "us", or "our") operates https://resume.toolsofpdf.com. This page explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it. We take your privacy seriously and will never sell your personal data.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
- Resume content (name, contact details, work history, education, skills)
- Email address and password if you create an account
- Cover letter and job application content
- Portfolio page content and contact form submissions
- Files you upload (LinkedIn data exports, resume PDFs for import)
Information collected automatically
- A unique anonymous session identifier stored in a browser cookie (90-day expiry)
- Pages visited and features used (for improving the service)
- Browser type, device type, and approximate location (country/region)
- Ad impression and click data if you interact with advertisements
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the resume builder and all its features
- To send your resume content to our AI provider (Anthropic) for writing improvements — only when you explicitly click an AI feature
- To send you account-related emails (verification, password reset)
- To deliver your portfolio contact form messages to your email address
- To improve the service through aggregated, anonymous usage analytics
- To serve advertisements through third-party ad networks (Google AdSense)
- To comply with legal obligations
3. AI Processing
When you use AI-powered features (Improve with AI, Cover Letter Builder, Interview Prep, Translation, etc.), the relevant content from your resume is sent to Anthropic (the makers of Claude AI) for processing. This is required to generate AI responses.
We send only the minimum data required for each feature. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to data processed through their API. See: anthropic.com/privacy
We do not use your resume content to train AI models.
4. Cookies

If we serve Google AdSense ads, Google may set additional cookies for personalised advertising. You can opt out at adssettings.google.com.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in these limited circumstances:
- Anthropic — AI processing when you use AI features
- Google AdSense — serving advertisements (if enabled)
- Email provider — delivering transactional emails
- Legal requirements — if required by law or legal process
6. Data Storage and Security
Resume data is stored in a secured database. Uploaded files (PDFs imported for parsing, LinkedIn exports) are processed immediately and deleted from our servers — they are never stored permanently.
We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, hashed passwords, and CSRF protection. No system is perfectly secure — please use a strong, unique password for your account.
7. Anonymous Users
You can use Resume Builder without creating an account. Your resumes are stored anonymously and linked to a session cookie in your browser. If you clear your cookies or switch devices, you will lose access to your resumes. We recommend creating a free account or exporting PDF copies as a backup.
8. Data Retention
- Anonymous session resumes: retained indefinitely unless you delete them
- Account resumes: retained until you delete them or close your account
- Account data: deleted within 30 days of account closure on request
- Uploaded import files: deleted immediately after processing
- Ad impression logs: retained for 90 days then purged
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and resume data
- Portability — export your resume data as PDF or Word
- Correction — correct inaccurate data (you can edit resumes directly)
- Opt-out of personalised ads — via your Google Ad Settings

10. Children's Privacy
Resume Builder is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
